I’m Freddie Jolley. I’m a gamer at heart; always have been for as long as I can remember. Haha, that makes it sound like an AA meeting introduction or something: “Hello. I’m Freddie, and I’m a gamer.” Too funny.
I still remember the very first video we got for Christmas when I was a kid. It was the old Atari game “Pong”. Okay, so I’m dating myself a bit here but whatever!
Nowadays I’m always on the lookout for the newest and most popular games out there. I enjoy a variety of genres, from platformers to shooters, mmorpgs and many more.
I’ve been playing video games ever since I was young. My brother introduced me to Asteroids and Super Mario and I never looked back. I owned my fair share of consoles, from SNES to the Playstation, but owning a desktop PC is what changed my gaming life forever. Online games became a huge part of my high school experience.
Growing up, my closest friends were all the guys in my same neighborhood, usually within a few blocks of my house. Now, thanks to gaming and the Internet, I have friends all over the country and all over the world, and if we ever want to talk, Skype became our go-to method of communication. I’ve always been shy, but online gaming gave me a reason to dig deeper into my introverted lifestyle.
I got into competitive online gaming, always wanting to be the best in whatever game I play. Around this time, YouTube and JustinTV were intensely popular with the gaming community. Gamers everywhere were getting fame and fortune simply by recording gameplay videos and commentating. So I took a chance, hoping for instant fame. But my lisp and inability to make a funny joke worked against me and I gave up only a few months after working on my channel.
I found myself at a vital point in my life. I was getting older and it was high time for me to decide whether I should give up gaming as a lifestyle and be more of an adult, or to take up a gaming-related career. I wasn’t cut out to be a YouTuber, and didn’t have the talent to get into game development. I didn’t know what I want, all I knew was I didn’t want to be the typical gaming stereotype of grown male living in his mom’s basement playing video games.
I wanted to do something with my life related to gaming. So you know what’s better than games? Why, free games of course! Everybody loves free games, including myself. I love discovering new games and sharing it to my friends and acquaintances. I started this website on a whim, just so the people I knew would have a place to go to if they want to keep updated on any free-to-play games.
Then I started getting mails from other people, asking for recommendations. Imagine, people are asking me for my opinion on games! Who would have thought? So from shabby posts filled with grammatical errors, I started to take the website seriously, writing substantial content for gamers everywhere who want a one-stop shop for downloading free-to-play games.
Now, I have a decent following on this website. I’m also a Steam curator, and I occasionally guest post on other gaming blogs. Every now and then, I’m even lucky enough to receive offers from publishers to beta test their games before they’re released. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.
